Passing on Dennis Garcia’s take on the new Department of Tourism’s (DOT) ‘fun’ slogan. Mind you, Dennis is über-talented! Founder and lyricist of the famed Hotdog band in the 1970s, he is also a bass player, filmmaker, an artist and professionally, an advertising Creative Director with stints …
Agree with the points here. The slogan has grown on me, if only because there are a variety of visual and even humorous directions the campaign can be taken.
I still wish that it was less reliant on such a ubiquitous and frankly amorphous word as ‘fun’, and I do wish we would have seen something that plugged into our unique cultural and historical context a little more directly. But, at least those points can be touched on in the ad spots.
I’m hoping that they also touch on fiestas in some way (Neighborhood Parties. It’s More Fun in the Philippines) and even our architecture and cuisine (Pork. It’s More Fun in the Philippines).
